Hello Potential Applicants at AGSB (Ateneo Graduate School of Business)!

If you’ve found my blog, you’re no undoubtedly searching for information about the school. I have a previous blog post that has been getting lots of visitors which result in me getting a ton of email questions. Most of them are the same so I’m just gonna make one post about it which will make your lives a little easier. So here are the most frequently asked questions about applying to the Ateneo GSB.

1) How much is the Tuition?
– Please see below for photos of my previous bills. It’s difficult to give you an amount because IT GOES UP every semester. The tuition fee (just for the class) when I started was around 9k per class. It doesn’t seem like a lot but it’s the miscellaneous fees that really get you.

The photos shown are for the Standard Program. In each scenario, I enrolled for two (2) classes with three (3) units each. Left Photo 24K is Term3 (March 2013 to July 2013). Right Photo 25K is for the upcoming Term 1 (August 2013 to November 2013). It goes up every year. If you do the math, it’s about Php12,600 per class now. That’s excluding additional expenses like xeroxing books, parking pass, food, etc. If I recall correctly, when I first started it was at around Php11,000.

Updated Tuition Sheet. Taken on May 6, 2014.

2) How is the Entrance Exam?
– Oh my gosh so easy. Basic reading comprehension. A little bit of abstract logic. English grammar stuff. Algebra and a bit of trigonometry. I don’t know anyone that has failed. You don’t need to study in advance, you just need to watch the time. The test is not hard, they just don’t give you a lot of time to finish. Don’t worry too much, goodluck!!

**May 6 2014 update – I’ve been getting dozens and dozens of questions about the exam. It’s similar to a standard college entrance exam. Please don’t worry about it too much. I can’t answer your questions about the exact math or exact reading problems because I honestly don’t remember. Those that have taken the exam – feel free to leave your feedback in the comments section so that others may benefit from your advice. I stand by the fact that it is not difficult, you are just constrained by time. Time is your biggest challenge, not the exam itself.

**November 7 2014 update – I will stop answering emails and messages that ask about the entrance exam. I still keep getting the same questions over and over again about the precise math or reading questions. Again, it’s your standard entrance exam. I have a suspicion that it is the same as the undergraduate ACET. Also, again, I don’t know anyone who has failed. Sorry guys, I already listed above what I know and recall from the test. If you email me about the entrance exam, the above will still be my answer.

3) How is the interview?
I didn’t do the interview na. I don’t know anyone who has done it. I can’t help with this. Although I can’t imagine that it would be different from a job interview.

4) Do you really need 2 years working experience prior to enrolling?
I know some people in school who are straight from undergraduate. Some with only 1 year working experience but it depends on their admissions council. They are getting stricter now. Honestly, I recommend you have work experience. The classes will make more sense.

5) What is the minimum # of classes I can enroll per semester?
– At least one. Many students enroll at least two just to make it worth it. You can also take semester leaves which means you stop for a sem if your work gets too demanding. There are 3 semesters in a year. Term1 is Aug to Nov. Term2 is Nov to Mar. Term3 is Mar to July. You have 6 years to finish the entire program.

6) What are the class schedules like?
If you are taking the Standard Program – When you start, the classes are 1.5 hours long. Once a week. When you get to the main classes, the core subjects, they are from 6-9pm, weekdays. Or 9am-12nn / 1pm- 3pm saturdays. All classes are 1x a week. Semester runs for 15 weeks. Some classes have a 15 minute break, some don’t. The Executive and Accelerated Program (REGIS) – 1x a week for 4 hours/day.

7) I work a lot and have to stay late at the office sometimes. What if I have class? Are the professors strict?
– The professors know the students are working. The programs are set up to be ideal for working students so the teachers do give consideration, especially when the student gives them advance notice. However, yes, some professors are strict. Use your leaves wisely, you only get 3 absences otherwise you get dropped. Just think of it this way, you made a commitment to go to school, if you can’t fulfill that commitment then you might want to change some things (select a saturday class, stop going to school that term, etc).

8) Where do I see the available classes?
– The actual schedule of classes is on the student portal. However, that is not open to the public. You have to get into school and have a student account before you can access that information. However, if you want to know what a standard MBA class flow is, here is the chart that can also be found on their website.

9) Will you be my friend in school?
– OF COURSE. Please don’t hesitate to approach me if you see me in school. I would be more than happy to say hello and chat.

10) WAIT. I have more questions!!
– No worries. Send me an email and I will try my best to get back to you. My email address is iamjulienneblog@gmail.com
I will try to answer as many questions as I can. Please don’t be upset if I don’t get to yours right away.

All the best on your application!! 🙂

Julienne

  2. gyn hizon says:

thank you for posting the tuition fee in AGSB. I’m currently taking up MBA as well and thinking of transferring to AGSB, I’m just not sure if I can afford it. 🙂 Well, the tuition is almost the same (well, AGSB is a couple of bucks more expensive :p) but I think kaya pa naman ng budget. Thanks again! This post is really helpful. 🙂

  3. mish says:

hi Julienne! ur blog is definitely a big help! Appreciate it a lot! 🙂

Just one more question, how many years will it take to finish AGSB if you’re taking full terms? And oh, how many units are there in a full term? I’m not even sure if my question is valid. LOL! But hey, thanks in advance! 🙂

    • Julienne says:

      Hey Mish,

“Full term” is subjective since students go at their own pace. The standard number of classes is 3 (regardless of units) though I’ve heard students taking 4 classes (as full-time students). The program can be completed ideally in 2.5 years, tri-semester.

      Julienne

  4. Kristian says:

I’m not an A student, apparently. Are they really strict with the GPA requirement? 🙁

  5. Kristian says:

sorry if ill spam a bit, because earlier today i submitted my application online (so the only piece missing, is me going to their admissions office and pass a few requirements, and then pay), and I fear that they will not consider my application because of my undergraduate performance.

  6. Carol says:

Hi Julienne, I am also planning to take up MBA in AGSB. Since you’ve mentioned that Term1 is supposed to start every August, then does that mean I still need to wait until next year to start my journey? Thanks!

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Carol,

No, you can start on the second term (December) or the third term (March) if you wish. 🙂 They have a rolling intake so it doesn’t matter when you start.

      Julienne

      • Carol says:

Thanks, dear! By the way, would you know any other difference between the Standard and the Middle Managers programs besides number of units and the cost? I would like to get the latter but the tuition fee is kinda high as compared to the standard program.

        • Julienne says:

          Hi Carol,

I know you take the same subjects pero fewer classes and shorter yung length ng program. Apart from that, I don’t know much about the Middle Managers. Best to call the registrar.. sorry. 🙁

          Julienne

          • Carol says:

Ok, will give them a call. Pero baka Standard MBA na lang din ang take up ko, masyadong steep ang tuition fee for MM.

How’s the exam pala? I would like to take the exam this December kaso 14 na pala, I don’t have much time to review na. Baka in January na lang siguro para mas mahabang time to study.

            Thanks again!

          • Julienne says:

Hey Carol! Sorry hindi na kita nareplyan. How was the exam? Diba easy lang? See you around soon I hope! 🙂

  7. Cookie says:

Hi Julienne! Chanced through your page while I was searching for tips online on how to go about ADMU MBA life.

Just a question, what load for the first trimester would you suggest for a full-time professional? Since I believe we have to take 5 Pre-MBA courses. Is 3 survivable, or 2 just right? (I don’t really get along well with Math haha). Which combinations of Pre-MBA courses are recommended?

    Many thanks..Your blog’s been a big help! 🙂

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Cookie —

Load for first semester – I did three classes. People typically do two kasi they’re still trying to get a feel for the school. Math OR Stat OR Accounting + Business Communications is the most common. I did Math Stat and Accounting in my first term. It sounds intimidating pero it was manageable for me because I took these classes already in undergrad. 🙂

Pre-MBA is : Intro to Math, Financial Accounting, Intro to Statistics – You have to take these three courses first, then you can take Methods of Research (METRES) which is also considered Pre-MBA. The fifth class is Business Communications.

      Julienne

      • Carol says:

This is really informative, I was about to ask the same question and yet you have answered it already. =)

By the way, do you take night classes on weekdays or do you prefer to take all classes on weekends?

  8. Paolo says:

    Hi Julienne,

I’m planning to take the MBA Standard Program in AGSB and I’m actually halfway through the application process. Would you have an idea if the Statements of Personal Qualifications need to be personally mailed by my references? I’m a bit anxious to ask them to spend some time to mail the letter and I’m thinking of offering to mail it myself.

Thank you very much! Your blog has been very helpful throughout my application. I look forward to your response to my inquiry. 🙂

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Paolo,

When I submitted my references, one mailed and one I hand submitted. 🙂

      Julienne

    • Carol says:

Hi Paolo, were you able to take the exam already? I’m planning to take it in January na kasi December 14 is almost near and I haven’t had the time to review. =)

  9. Jillian says:

Hi, have you heard of Rizalito Gregorio for Metres class? Is he good?

  10. km says:

    hi Julienne,
    thanks for the tips! 🙂
How long does the entrance exam take?
    thanks!

  11. Kaiser says:

    Hi,
You have an interesting and enlightening post. I saw your blog while browsing about the career opportunities after pursuing a MBA in Ateneo GSB. I am very interested in pursuing a career in a global consulting firm or investment banking firm, think McKinsey, BCG or JP Morgan Chase. I wish to know the competitiveness of an Ateneo MBA among these companies.
Thank you. Looking forward to your response

    -Kai

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Kai,

Thanks for your message. I’m not sure that Ateneo MBA alone could get you into such firms but it would certainly be a good addition to your resume. 🙂

      Julienne

  12. jayson says:

Hi Julienne, Thanks for this blog. Want to us lng kung ano ung mga sequence nung entrance exam for Standard MBA.
    thanks in advance!!

    • Julienne says:

      Hey jayson,

Sorry I don’t remember too well na ano yung exact sequence. It’s really just a standard college entrance exam. Walang pinagkaiba.

      Julienne

  13. Rei says:

    Hi,

After reading other blog posts, this one really gave me all the important answers that I needed. I wanted to enroll this year after researching and contemplating for 2-3 months now, but I just read that the first term starts this March. (already late I guess? made me a bit sad haha) I guess I’ll be inquiring in June/July so I can start in the 2nd term. Thanks for this blog!

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Rei,

Thanks for the comment! Just wanted to correct –
The 1st term is in August – November
The 2nd term is in November – March
The 3rd term is in March – July.

Acceptance is on a rolling basis. So people can start 1st, 2nd, 3rd term, depending on what they choose.

      Thanks 🙂
      Julienne

  14. Mark says:

Hi Julienne! Will i still be accepted if i have failed some subjects in undergrad? If they won’t, then too bad for me 🙁 ..nice blog btw, really informative 🙂

And how’s the math? Is it harder than undergrad math subjs?

  15. Mark says:

Hi Julienne! Do most of MBA students in AGSB have undergrad related to business? Do liberal arts graduates such as myself would have a hard time with the subjects?

Do majority of students of agsb mba have decent amount of job experience prior on entering the mba program??

Looking forward for your response. Thankyou 😀

  16. Raf says:

Hi Julienne! Thanks for the helpful information regarding the Ateneo MBA stuff.

I would like to ask though regarding the tuition fees, does Ateneo accept installment payment scheme for tuition fees or they only accept full payment upon enrollment?

    Thanks!

    Raf

    • Julienne says:

      Hey Raf,

Am not sure I replied to this. To my knowledge you have to pay in full. But please check with the Registrar because I’m not sure also.
They usually require you to pay check in full upon enrollment.

      Julienne

  17. Ira says:

Hi, what do u mean by standard program? I’m planning to take my Masters in Ateneo also.

  18. MARK WAGAN says:

Hi! is it possible to have 2 Pre-MBA subject and 1 core subject in one term?

  19. Mr. Brightside says:

I have a question (though it’s outside your program, hehe).

Say that financial capacity wouldn’t be a problem for you, and the pool of the candidates for both programs are quite diverse (but business acumen level could be higher in Regis – mga top execs and oldies na raw ata kumukuha nito eh). You qualified for both programs.

Which of the two would you pick? The MM program that would entail you longer but enjoyable(?) years of completion (15 weeks of 7 terms, right) or the fast-tracked Regis (8 weeks of 7 terms)?

  20. karynel says:

    hi julienne,

i like your blog,so informative especially for me…im planning to take the regis program, and im so nervous right now that i might not pass the entrance exam…do you think their entrance exam in standard program and regis program is just the same?.(crossed finger with faith in God)=) hope to hear from you..thank you

    kaye

  21. EUNICE says:

Hi! I’ve been battling between going to Ateneo (since I am a loyalist 😀 ) or La Salle. An officemate of mine, who went to AGSB, said he didn’t get his money’s worth. His friends who went to La Salle said they got good return from La Salle’s MBA. I was sort of swayed ONLY because RCBC is nearer my workplace and home compared to Rockwell. But I am still half-hearted. Can you give me an idea on the value I can get on AGSB’s MBA? Do you have any idea if it goes the same for La Salle?

Also, since i am not yet decided, is it possible if I just take the entrance exam in ateneo (since last day is june 17)? And then can I eventually retract or not push through with the application if i decide to go to La Salle?

    Thanks a lot!

    • Julienne says:

      Hey Eunice,

Sorry for the delayed response. I have some friends in the LaSalle MBA and they love it. But as to more detail, I don’t know I have to ask them.

Ateneo’s MBA is very similar to college. Honestly, I was quite disappointed because it is still very bookish and I didn’t learn much. However I stuck with it because I met great people and friends. I enrolled in MBA not really for the education but more for the networking.

Yeah if you take the exam and choose not to pursue it, then that’s totally your call. It’s just an exam, no commitments 🙂

Hope this helps a little bit.
      Julienne

  22. Mikee says:

    Hi Julienne,

I just settled my entrance exam fee.. I was given the schedule next month. I am kinda nervous about the exam and interview as well. Are they strict about this?

    Thanks

  23. Edward Carlos says:

    Hi Julienne,
I am planning to take Master in Entrepreneurship in Ateneo this coming school term. Can you give me an idea how would it cost to finish the Course? (total cost of tuitions and fees only)

    Edward

    • Julienne says:

      Hey there Edward,

Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about that because I took the Standard MBA. Best to call the registrar.

      Julienne

  24. Kath says:

Hi Julienne, super thank you for posting this. Very informative specially about the mba entrance exam. I will take it this June and i am so anxious and nervous 🙂 hope to pass it with God’s grace..

  25. anna says:

    hi julienne!
let me first say that i love your blog! we share the same thoughts on most subjects. :p
anyhoo i will be taking the exam on june 7! the registrar didn’t ask me if i wanted to enroll in the standard or regis. i guess the exam is the same and a certain percentile is admitted to regis.
i don’t exactly have a question but i appreciate all the info! 🙂

  26. Ching says:

    Hi Julienne! 🙂

Your blog is too helpful! Thanks so much! I am scheduled to take the exam this Sat! June 14! Before anything else wanted to know if you have an idea with the payment scheme? Do I have to pay in full or they accept installment schemes? Jst so I can budget my money. Thanks again! And regards 🙂

  27. Jen says:

Hi i just want to say i really love your blog .. Im planning to pursue my mba next term, i think its start on november .. I passed my online application 3 weeks ago .. I just want to ask do you have any idea when will i get to know the result of my application, so that i can pursue in passing my requirements on hand and get my entrance exam schedule thanks in advance 🙂

  28. Jayme says:

Hi Julienne, do you have any idea re: environment in MBA-Regis – students, lecturers, program delivery, etc? Is it really intimidating since everyone’s assumption is that those who are in Regis are those highly-experienced individuals? I am currently under Middle Manager Program but due to a change in my work schedule, I am thinking of transferring to Regis since they have Saturday classes.

    • Julienne says:

      Hey Jayme,

Sorry for the delayed response. Unfortunately, I know nothing about Regis. I wanted to go also but changed my mind last minute. The schedule is more intense I think. Not sure about the workload. Sorry!!

  29. Bryan says:

I just wanna thank you… and marry your blog. 😀 My exam is on August 23. See ya when I see ya!

  30. Jett says:

    Hi Julienne,
Very informative blog! Just like to know if the MBA Standard Program ends with a Thesis? Thanks!

    • Julienne says:

      hello,

yes it ends with a kind-of-thesis. They call this the strategic management paper which is more like a business plan. 🙂

  31. mishy says:

Hi julienne! Thank u so much for ur very informative blog. Just wanted to ask if they have an essay portion on the entrance exams? Im scheduled to take it this coming saturday. Hope to pass in God’s will. Thanks in advance! ☺

  32. mobias says:

    Hi julienne

Do they have MBA non-thesis program?

    • Julienne says:

They all have a “Strama” (Strategic Management) paper which is really a different way of saying thesis but it is more like a business plan.

  33. Richard says:

    Hi Julienne,

I’m planning to take MBA for middle manager at AGSB, I’ve read that the classes start at 6 pm, unfortunately I finish work at 6 pm, and it will take around 1 hour to reach the campus, so my question is will that be ok if i come to classes at 7 pm or 1 hour late for the entire semester?

    • Julienne says:

Honestly, I don’t think the professor would be okay with that. Put yourself in the professor’s shoes.
If you make a commitment to take your MBA I think you have to figure out the work schedule thing or take classes on Saturdays.

  34. April says:

    Hello julienne,

For the recommendation letters, what if my former professors no longer remember me? From whom should i ask for recommendation letters? Hoping for your reply. Thanks

  35. Jayme says:

Hi, I just want to ask if the supplementary materials specified in the syllabus are only available thru Ateneo Library? I was specifically looking for Accounting Text and Cases 13th Edition by Anthony, Hawkins and Merchant online since I am still out of town until next weekend.

Also, if you have any feedback regarding MANACC – Prof. Solomon? 🙂

  36. Jayme says:

Also, for the assignments, may specific format pa din ba? First day ko pa lang kasi this Saturday and have no idea if may format or free form or sa notebook lang isusulat or what. From your experience, pano ba yung mga assignments (exercises and problems)specified sa syllabus?

    • Julienne says:

Hello Sorry for the delayed reply. I think you already had your first class by now so my answers are a little late na. I hope it went okay. No worries on being unprepared, they are not that strict during the first day.

  37. Ralph says:

Hi Julienne, your blog is really useful for someone like me who has loads of MBA questions. Hehe!

I just want to ask if you got the chance to be under Prof. Solomon (MANACC) and if yes, can you share something about him re: style, grades, treatment, etc.

    Thanks!

  38. mishy says:

Sorry this out of the topic.. would just like to know if anyone else here took the exam last aug 23. I’ve been waiting for the result til now and kept on calling the office but was informed to just wait for the announcement on their website. Hope to hear from those who have the same predicament. TIA!

  39. Mr. Brightside says:

Thanks for the response. BTW, I went for Regis instead. Expectations, dapat responsible ka with studying. Else, maiiwan ka. Done with my 2nd term na from the time I wrote here. 5 more terms (estimate of 40 school weeks) at graduate na ako. 🙂

I recommend Regis kung qualified naman kayo for the program.

  40. Yeay says:

    THANKS for this 😉
    Really helpful.

  41. Prettyme says:

Hi Julienne, thanks for initiating this group, i find it really helpful for Agsb aspirants like us, but would you know from your batch of examiners failed the entrance exams? just wondering 🙂

Thanks and more power to your blog! 🙂

  42. luke says:

    Hi Julienne,

I’m already in my mid 40s and planning to enroll in the MM program. I’m quite worried that i will be considered the “senior citizen” of the class.

    Luke

  43. Roy says:

your blog is really helpful! just passed the exam:) question, did you take the Pre-MBA courses,i believe these subjects can be skipped? Do you happen to know the process/requirements for me to skip this.

    • Jim Reyes says:

Hi Roy! How was the exam? I’m taking the exam in July 2015 and am thinking that perhaps there’s some kind of reviewer available. Would getting a GMAT reviewer be too much for the AGSB exam? Frankly, the Math part is what I’m worried about, specifically problems that deal with trigo or geometry hehe…any suggestions or tips?

  44. Spike says:

    Hi Julienne!

Just wanted to ask, are students with failing grades during their university days will also be qualified for the AGSB MBA program?

    Thank you and God bless!

  45. Izy says:

    Hi Julienne,

How are the three statements of qualification and recommendation submitted, do they have a form for the recommendation? I am planning to take MBA this school year. Thank you in advance!

  46. Jerra says:

Hi julienne! Going to their makati branch, need b ng private vehicle? Or communte pwede? Sorry not familiar in makati and since evening ang class concern ko is ung safety nung place. Need b ng mahabang lakaran from where i get off?

    • Julienne says:

Yeah! it’s safe. No need for private vehicle, although I think ang closest na jeep na babaan ay sa JP Rizal. 🙂 Worst case scenario – cab?

  47. Jerra says:

Since its 6-9 pm class, is it safe to commute there?
From where i get off, mahabang lakaran ba ang kelangan?
Sorry im not familiar in Makati. Thank you!

  48. penelope says:

How old are the people from standard mba and middle manager? I Just wanna know the difference so i would know which to take. Btw im 23 years old now. Thanks 🙂

  49. Randy says:

    Good day Ms Julienne,

Ako ay nangangarap at nagpaplano pumasok sa Ateneo MBA. Nakapagsubmit na ako ng online application.

Kailangan ba magaling mag english pag pumasok sa MBA?

Papano po ang flow ng schooling? Wala po akong idea talaga eh.
Kung sa college pag 1st yr e.g. Intro to Accounting, 2nd yr blahblah, and so on. Ano po ang kailangan kong unahin pagka natanggap ako?

  50. Tintin says:

Hi Julienne! I was looking for a helpful blog that would give me an idea of what I can expect when im already admitted in agsb mba standard program and came across this site. Someone told me that most of what the professors ask from the students are just reports and presentations (no quizzes or exams). Not sure if my question is valid but Im really bothered if it’s true. Hehe. Hope you can verify! Thanks a lot.

    • Julienne says:

      Hey Tintin,

There are no quizzes, but there may be exams, particularly for the courses that are more technical in nature. There’s a lot of requirement for presentations, papers and reports, regardless of what class you take there will always be this.

      Julienne

  51. TIN says:

    Hi Julienne!

What’s the difference between Standard MBA Program and Ateneo – Regis MBA Program? Thanks a lot! =)

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Tin,

The standard are for people who are early in their careers, people who are working who may not have a business background, etc.
Mid Manager – for middle manager level or those looking to level up.
Regis is for senior management, executives, business owners, etc.

ALso, please note that the age groups of students enrolled in each program will vary.

      Julienne

  52. Jimmy says:

Thank you so much for all the info on your blog. I’ve been reading since last year when I started my application. Finally, I can enroll by the end of this month! My question: I’m planning to start this coming term. However I have an overseas trip which means I’ll be absent for 3 consecutive weeks. I read the maximum we’re allowed is 3. Would being out 3 consecutive meetings be an issue?

    • Julienne says:

Depending on the subject! Personally, I think it would be difficult to disappear for 3 consecutive classes. Baka ma-drop ka ng professor if strict sila. I think mas ok yung non-consecutive kasi you can catch up. but in your case, I think you might get left behind in material if you are gone for 3 classes. But again, it depends on the subject.

      Julienne

  53. Raymund says:

I am 46 years old and want to take an MBA in order to get new ideas from other people in business. Would you recommend that I take the Regis MBA in spite of my age.

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Mr. Raymund!

I think you would enjoy the Regis program as it is geared towards professionals and businessmen/women in higher positions in their career (or lose looking to advance their careers.) They are students of all ages and they tend to be older (late 30’s – 40’s). There are also students from different industries and locations (countries/cities) so it is definitely something you can learn from. That said, I always suggest to try a semester (wala naman mawawala) to determine if 1) it is for you 2) if the schedule works with yours.

      Goodluck 🙂

Hi, Julienne! I passed the entrance exam in AGSB but enrolled in a diff. Umiversity. Now I am planning to transfer in AGSB. Q1: Do I need to take the exams again? Q2: Will the subjects I’ve taken in other university be credited? Thanks.

    Good pm!

The Schedule of my entrance exam will be this coming Sept. 12.I was wondering, why it is from 745 am up to 1pm( too long!) what is the coverage of this exam? Is there a essay part, like the ACET? I would appreciate it if I get a feedback, tnx.

    Hi Juleinne,

Thank you for this post, this is so helpful. I will be having my entrance exam this September. I am nervous about my application, my grades from my college days were not that competitive, I don’t even have much of certifications, I have been working for like 6years already and have forgotten my lessons from college. I am very interested to enroll an MBA here in Ateneo. Marami na bang bumagsak sa exams? Appreciate your response.

    Thank you so much.

  58. JR says:

Hi Julienne. I would like to ask how much ang tuition sa AGSB as of this AY? AGSB is my second option for my MBA schooling by early 2016. I’m just quite worried about the tuition fee though.

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Jr,

The rates have already surely increased since I last attended. But when I finished it was around 12K per class. Please call them to inquire about updated tuition.

      • JR says:

I called them, and they told me na nasa website (General FAQ) and here’s what I found:

        1 subject = Php 13, 769.80 per trimester
        2 subjects = Php 26,547.50 per trimester

If I may ask, does it really require me to pay the tuition fee in full before them semester starts or installment basis?

      • JR says:

Thanks for the response. As per the AGSB Admissions, nasa General FAQ daw ng site, and it states there that for 1 subject, Php 13, 769.80 per trimester while for 2 subjects, Php 26,547.50 per trimester. My question is, every semester, is it relly required to pay in full or can I do partial initial payment to installments until the end of term?

    Hello Julienne!

Which path in the MBA would you recommend: Taking two ‘light’ subjects in a term and one ‘heavy’ subject the next? Or mixing a ‘light’ and ‘heavy’ subject in one term? Which subjects did you find the most difficult? Thanks again for this very helpful blog!

  60. yelle says:

Hi, may I know if there’s a possibility to be accepted in AGSB if you had low grades in your undergrad years? Im really determined to take my MBA but im worrying as to whether they’ll accept me with the kind of grades i had back then.

    Best regards!

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Yelle –

Depends on your definition of Low. If you have valuable work experience I think they will consider that as well. So not to worry.

      Julienne

  61. Juvy says:

    Hi Julienne!

Do you know the application period for MBA Standard Program for AY 2016-2017?

Hope you response as soon as possible. Thank you.

    • Julienne says:

Sorry Juvy! i don’t. I’m sorry. Since I graduated, I do not keep updated with Ateneo’s schedule anymore. Besides, they intake students on a rolling basis anyway so you will have multiple chances to apply.

  62. mimi says:

I took their entrance exam last year around July 2015. I failed. 🙁 Sobrang nahihiya ako sa boss ko kasi company namin magfafund sa akin. 🙁

Prior to taking it, i search online and mostly said that no need to review. No one will fail. So I followed them. I didn’t review. I shaded my (feel kong) answers without reading the questions. Then I was able to finish the exam in just 30 minutes. As far as I can recall good for 5 hours ang exam. So what I did on my remaining time, nagdrawing ako ng mga flowers at bahay sa scratch paper ko na pinasubmit din nila. 🙁 Most of items are Math/Logic. Both are my weakness. Kaya di ko na rin binasa ang halos 75% ng exam kasi mostly problem solving and algebra. 🙁

Now, pinapagtake uli ako ng company namin. I want to take the opportunity coz my boss believes in me. And I want to level up my career, my confidence and I feel like taking MBA will serve as my training ground for me to understand the business more, and to deal with people or clients confidently. According sa boss ko yun daw weakness ko. Feeling ko di ako mapopromote dahil dun. 🙁
Pero naiisip ko pa lang ang exam nila parang feeling ko di na naman ako papasa kahit magreview ako. 🙁

    I am really regretting and

    • Julienne says:

Sorry to hear you gave up on the exam. I still maintain you don’t have to review so much. However, if you will give up on the exam like you did then really there’s no way you will pass. You didn’t even read the questions. Take your time answering the questions on your second try, I’m sure you will do better. Goodluck!

Hi Julienne! Does Ateneo GSB offer all subjects during weekends or there are classes during weeknights? I want to take MBA in Ateneo kasi but I am working in the province kaya during weekends lang ako pwede pumasok. Thanks! =))

    • Julienne says:

Due to work demands lot of people take classes weekends lang but it’s best to check the schedule what they have. You might have to fill your weekends with multiple classes because they don’t offer them every term.

  65. Nicole Dela Cruz says:

Hi Julienne! Would you know how much would it cost if I plan to enroll two subjects per term? Upon browsing AGSB’s website it’s 14k+ per course. Does that include already the other fees? Thank you!

  66. mikey says:

    Hi Julienne!

This post had been long enough and I assume youre done already? quick question and I hope you dont mind me asking.. after your mba, were there really a lot of job offers? and was is “sulit” in a way that the offers were really juicy?

really contemplating on taking my mba this year. thank you !

    • Julienne says:

      Hey Mikey,

Sorry for the late reply. I used my MBA to make friends and networks so it didn’t really get me “job offers” in the way that you think. Some of my friends used theirs to try to get promoted though to be honest I do not have any more update on whether that was successful. Whether the MBA really makes you valuable is uncertain because it’s different for each person and I’m sure employers look at candidates’ credentials as a whole and not just based on the MBA. However, I think you stand to benefit the most from learning from other people while you are in the course.

      HOpe this helps!

  67. Nicole says:

Hi Julienne! Would you know how much would it cost if I plan to enroll 2 sebjects per term? Upon browsing AGSB’s website, it’s 14k+ per course. Does that include the other fees? If I wanted to enroll 2 subjects will it be at around 30k? Thanks for the help!

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Nicole,

Sorry for the delayed reply. the 14K Per course may not include other fees, the rates have gone up significantly since I was there. But it was always the course fee + incidentals (technology fee, library fee, etc) which tacked on another 2K per course. The best way is to call the registrar’s office and get a fees breakdown.

      Hope this helps.

  68. Marvin says:

    Hi Julienne,
My GWA is way below the 2.0 requirement. Should I even try submitting documents for the entrance exam? I just don’t want to embarrass myself submitting requirements only to find told I’m not qualified.

    • Julienne says:

I think if your work experience is valuable then submit your application anyway. Don’t let your GPA define you. If they don’t accept you just because of your GPA, it’s their loss, not yours.

  69. Joaquin says:

Hi Julienne! Does the Standard Program requires a lot of case studies, reporting, and the likes? By the way, thanks to your blog!

Hi, Julienne! I am an upcoming undergraduate soon and I am planning to take MBA after 2 years of working experience. My college degree is Computer Science. Will I have a hard time coping with the subjects since my field is sortof different? Also, my heart is battling whether I should go to La Salle or Ateneo. Both schools are near my place. I want to hear your suggestion. Also, is it okay to apply in both schools then I’ll decide which school I want? 🙂 Thank you!

  73. Lilie says:

Hi julienne! I think I’m the only one asking this, but was there an essay question when you took the exam? Cos there’s always an essay question in the acet, i thought there’ll also be one in the entrance exam for agsb :)) thanks!

    Hi Julienne!

    Nice blog.

I am planning on submitting my online application as soon as I finish it (probably by next week). Though I have some questions:

    1. Do you get to choose when you will take the exam?
    2. Should all document requirements be passed before or after the exams?
    3. For the recommendation letters, is it okay to have all of them from work or does one or so have to be from the school you attended?

    Thanks!

  77. anne says:

    hi Julienne!

do you have any entrance exam reviewer that i can borrow? 🙂

  78. Mark says:

    Hi Julienne,

Does AGSB offer scholarships to working students?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    • Julienne says:

Hey Mark, I’m sorry i’m a little late to answer your question. Most of the students in AGSB are working so I do not think that is the primary consideration of a scholarship. It’s best to inquire with the admissions office for this but if I were to guess, my guess would be no they do not.

  79. Chel says:

Hi Julienne! Would you advice taking an MBA for a career shift? I would rly like to convert from clinical (medical) research to marketing or advertising? I know it seems so farfetched. I hope you cam help

    Thank you!

    • Julienne says:

      Hey Chel,

Apologies for the delayed reply. My answer is that it depends on what career you want to shift into.

I have found that the MBA is good for giving you a working knowledge of business and its in and outs. It is a great place for exploring and learning and taking time off to decide what you want to do in your career. It is great for enhancing and complementing existing careers. BUT JUST MY OPINION – I do not think that it is substantial enough to switch careers (depending on how BIG of a shift). I think you COULD switch careers with it but expect that you might start from an entry level role because employers might not be able to consider your medical research experience if it is not relevant to the new job you are applying for.

I don’t have much information about your situation and I do not want to discourage you from going after your new goals. I’m just trying to manage your expectations about an MBA in general. It is, in my mind, a life-enhancing experience not a life-changing one.

All the best and keep us posted on what you decide to do next.

      Julienne

  80. Jan Robin P. Villegas says:

    Hi Ms. Juliennne,

    Good day!
Please confirm my understanding on tuition fee for AY 17-18, does the Php 27,205.05/course for MBA Middle Manager pertains to per semester/subject which equivalents to only 1 subject/3 units? Is this inclusive of miscellaneous already?

base on the above, if I will enroll for two subjects per semester it will be a total of 54K?

Isn’t it a bit too much?

    Thank you

    • Julienne says:

      Hi Jan,

I graduated in 2014 so I am definitely not updated on the tuition figures. Also, I graduated from the Standard Program and have no idea of the pricing on the Middle Manager. I’m afraid I’m not familiar enough to answer your question nor even make an educated guess on this. I suggest you call the Registrar’s office, they’ll be more than happy to explain.

      All the best.
