My 2012 Travel Goals
My Quarter Life Crisis is accompanied by the urge to flee, to go to a new place and start fresh, to do something new and be far away from the reminders of responsibility and pressures of growing up. This makes sense because I’ve always loved to travel.
While I no longer feel the urge to run away, I still feel the need to go and visit a new place every so often. If I’m in one place for too long, I get antsy and wanderlust kicks in. When 2012 rolled around, I vowed to visit a new place every month. I mapped out a plan to do so. It doesn’t have to be fancy, foreign or expensive. It just has to be new.
So far, this is how I’m doing..
- January – Cebu (for Sinulog)
- February – no new place π
- March – The Farm at San Benito
- April – no new place π
- May – Sydney, Australia (Excited!!)
Since I skipped out on two months I have to make it up in other months. It’s already May and I still have to see 9 new places. Pressure is on!
Places I intend to visit this year, Months TBD.
- Bellarocca – Marinduque
- Hike up Mt. Pinatubo
- Korea (ideally to Snowboard but just to visit would be good too)
- Roadtrip to Pagudpud (which will involve a side trip to Vigan, La Union and other places on the way. No, this isn’t cheating)
- Pinto Art Gallery in Antipolo
- Mind Museum in BGC
- Some Random US State I’ve never been to before
- Bohol
- ???
So I don’t know exactly how I will afford to go to all these places. I don’t even know if I can squeeze them all into 2012 since these things take some planning and lots of funds. I figure though if I list it out like this, I won’t forget it. Keeping my fingers crossed I make it to at least half of the places on this list.
Wanted: travel buddies. Who’s game? π

Hi Julienne,
Good afternoon (Kuwait)
Good evening (Manila)
Wow that’s a great Idea to list down all the place you want to visit. You are like me and my sister, we love to travel and explore. Have you been to Barcelona, Spain? its so great. My sister told me Valencia is also good.
You should include Middle east,Dubai, UAE is nice.
I want to go to Jerusalem but because of my wedding preparation im stock.
Me and my sister are both planning to go to Brazil next year after my Big day π
Good luck and I wish you to have a travel buddy you can drag where ever you want.
Enjoy life to the fullest.
God bless
Rhuth
Hi Ms. Rhuth! Wow that’s a good list, thanks for the recommendations π Very exotic! I’m trying to explore the Philippines first (gotta appreciate my own country) before I venture out. Spain is definitely on my list, as is Jerusalem and Brazil. π Share pictures when you go! π
Make sure you get some great pics on the Sydney trip (I know that you will). When will you be heading off there? I’ve heard that Pinatubo is occasionally active. Have I got this right or have I got the wrong volcano? All the best for a great trip to Oz and make sure, when the immigration officer asks you whether you have a criminal record, to say that you didn’t know it was still a requirement.
Hahaha! That’s hilarious. I’d say that except I worry I’ll get deported for being a smart ass even if I was just joking. hahaha that’s funny though. π
And yes, Mt. Pinatubo is occasionally active. π
Thanks! It’s my first time to Sydney and I’m excited.
The other one that will have them weeping with mirth is: Why wasn’t Christ born in Australia? (A: They couldn’t find three wise men and a virgin?). Be careful though because the average Australian immigration officer has a sense of humor that can only be described as Teutonic.
You will find plenty of bizarre stuff to photograph in Australia. I have a ‘curiosities’ album on facebook for each country that I visit. Australian Curiosities has the most photos.
