**** August 2013 UPDATE – Due to so many great responses to this entry, I’ve made an Ateneo FAQ entry for you to post your questions and inquiries on. I will try my best to answer as many questions as I can. Please check out the updated entry here: https://iamjulienne.com/blog/2013/08/ateneo-mba-faq/  ****

Having lived in Manila the last few years has made me realize that studying in the States has made me miss out on the crucial social network of opportunity that the local Filipino universities offer. While I don’t regret studying abroad, I wish I had college friends to hang out with here in Manila.

However, since I’ve been toying with the idea of going back to school for my Master’s Degree, I figured it would be wise for me to enroll locally. I’d hit two birds with one stone – make friends and get a good education.

Today I enrolled in Ateneo University’s MBA program. I’ve been planning and looking forward to this moment for a while but strangely enough, I was inexplicably nervous as I paid. The tuition fee is steep! That made me hesitate a little bit I strengthened my resolve, paid and sealed my attendance. It’s official. I’m a student again.

The minute I received the syllabi for the 3 classes I’m taking this semester, I was already seriously regretting my decision. I’m signed up for Financial Accounting, Applied Mathematics and Managerial Statistics. I wonder if I have a death wish, taking on a load of 3 calculator burning, mathematics-heavy classes. It almost makes me wonder whether I’m taking my MBA or an Engineering Degree. While I’ve taken these subjects before (in college), it’s been a while and it doesn’t make the material any less challenging. Yikes.

I’m going to be acclimatizing again to a different culture, one that I’ve never ever been exposed to before. Already I’m adjusting to the registration and enrollment process alone. I know I’m not supposed to compare but I can’t help but fondly remember my Undergrad University and how convenient everything was. (example: I never had to pay a fee for wanting to change my schedule. Now, if I ever wanted to switch schedules, even prior to class starting, I have to pay a fee. Sucks.)

Sigh. I’m not looking forward to homework and school stress. But I’m so excited for learning, new experiences and new friends! 😀 Now.. Does anyone know where I can get my textbooks for cheap?

Hi Julienne! I like your blog, but it made me nervous. I got accepted in AGSB. Can you let me know how much you paid for tuition (though email)? Thanks!

Hi Julienne, great article! Reading your blog made me excited and nervous. Can’t wait to start my MBA this 2nd trimester. Same as Eliza’s request, may I ask how much is your tuition for taking 3 pre-mba courses? And when will a student be able to choose their schedule, at the day of the enrollment? Thanks!

    • Julienne says:

hey, sorry for the delayed response. Tuition’s around 11,800+ for 1 class. 🙂 The tuition itself is around 9k plus fees comes to almost 12k. 🙂 This doesn’t include books yet. Yes you can choose your schedule day of enrollment. Registration and Enrollment just started, I’m not sure if this is still helpful to you 🙂 But let me know if you have any more questions!

Gaano kahirap ang entrance exam? Any tips on what I need to review before taking it?
    How about the interview?
Totoo bang 4 hours ang isang subject kada linggo?

Hi! Thank you for the very informative post 🙂 It’s very useful for MBA-wannabes, especially for people like myself who live in Cebu.
I’m also planning to enroll in AGSB’s MBA program. Like everyone else who commented on your post, I’d like to know how much tuition + other fees I’ll be paying for an entire trimester. When I was inquiring about the different MBA programs AGSB’s offering, I had soooo many questions I forgot to ask or the tuition and other fees. I hope you can send them to me via email also.
    Thank you very much!
Good luck with your classes, I can’t wait for my turn 🙂

  13. Gar says:

    Hi Ms. Julienne,

I came across with your blog when I was browsing about the MBA program at AGSB. I am currently working at Makati and I would still like to pursue further studies.

Like all of the people above, I wish to learn more about your experiences since I would be paying the tuition fee with my own savings (given the fact that my salary is REALLY LOW… 🙁 lol):

    Hi Jul,

Woah, this is worth reading. Gave me a lot to think about. I am actually considering AGSB but then I worry about the possibility that since I would be a part-time student, this could prolong my term and my studies (I read 2 subject would be tolerable and adding another would be a suicide — which would practically be not a good idea). I’m a graduate of Business Course (Marketing and Advertising Management) DLSU-D ALUMNI (ANIMO!) and I’m hoping some of my subjects would be credited.

I’m 21 y/o (btw) and currently, I’m working for a well-known Local Bank owned by a Multinational Company and I’m already on my 11th month there. You think I can make it by next year? I plan on this a little early so I could prep up.

Grateful if I could hear from you! Hoping you’re doing well with your MBA !

    Thanks in advance.
